ANTIPERSPIRANT vs DEODORANT
Natural deodorants will not stop you from sweating. Natural formulas do not contain aluminum, the ingredient that clogs sweat glands and blocks perspiration. Sweating is a natural and essential mechanism for health, regulating body temperature and eliminating toxins from the body. Sweat itself has no odor—bad smells are caused by the proliferation of bacteria. Unlike antiperspirants, deodorants contain antibacterial substances that prevent odor-causing bacteria from multiplying. Essential oils help mask unpleasant odors, and powders (clay, baking soda) absorb moisture.
This is why we recommend using deodorants—natural ones, of course—rather than antiperspirants.
INGREDIENTS TO AVOID
Some ingredients commonly found in conventional deodorants are carcinogenic and act as endocrine disruptors that can be harmful to health. Organic deodorants at Superskin do not contain these ingredients:
- Propylparaben, a paraben used as a preservative
- Cyclopentasiloxane, a silicone derivative
- Phenoxyethanol, a preservative
- Methylparaben, a paraben
- Aluminum salts, which block perspiration. This process is harmful to the body. Aluminum chloride is carcinogenic and a dangerous endocrine disruptor.
