Inflammation is a natural response of our body to an attack, such as an injury, infection, or environmental stress. While inflammation is an essential defense mechanism, chronic or repeated inflammation can lead to long-term damage to our skin, thus accelerating the aging process.

Several factors can contribute to skin inflammation, including UV exposure, pollution, stress, smoking, and an unbalanced diet. These factors trigger the production of free radicals, unstable molecules that damage skin cells and the collagen and elastin fibers responsible for skin firmness and elasticity.

Inflammation can also lead to skin sensitivity and fragility, acne, rosacea, and blemishes. First and foremost, if you want to address a skin problem, start by reducing inflammation both internally and externally.
