Have you considered the possibility that you might not be using them correctly?
Many people comment on mistakes that negate all their good habits. Using an expensive cream is pointless if you continue to over-exfoliate, neglect your SPF, or sleep without removing your makeup.
The beauty of your skin lies in a delicate balance: avoiding what damages it and embracing what nourishes it. That's exactly what you'll discover in this comprehensive guide. On one hand, the 10 mistakes you may be making without realizing it that accelerate aging, dull your complexion, and cause blemishes. On the other, the 10 essential, simple, and scientifically proven steps to transform your skin from within.
Whether you are 25, 40 or 60 years old, whether your skin is dry, oily, sensitive or combination, these 20 universal tips will allow you to reveal the best of your skin.
Here are our tips to maximize the potential of your products.
Ten things to avoid for perfect skin
1. DO NOT FOCUS YOUR ROUTINE ON A SINGLE PROBLEM
Base your routine on a specific concern: dehydration, acne, blemishes, sensitivity, etc. Focus on your biggest concern and use the appropriate ingredients to address it for at least two cell renewal cycles (approximately two months). Setting one goal at a time will help you build a consistent routine. Once you've resolved that issue, you can gradually introduce other ingredients. This will allow you to verify if the products are working as intended.
2. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CLEANERS ON THE SITE
Leave your cleanser on for a few minutes to allow the active ingredients time to penetrate deep into your pores. This helps to remove impurities, excess oil, and dead skin cells more effectively. You can leave it on for 1 to 2 minutes, massaging it in, or leave it on for 10 minutes like a mask, as they are so rich in active ingredients that it would be a shame to rinse them off so quickly! Cleansers should be applied to dry skin to prevent the active ingredients from being diluted by water. This allows for better absorption of the active ingredients.
3. OVEREXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN
Exfoliation helps to reveal new skin by removing dead skin cells, thus stimulating cell renewal. Over-exfoliating can damage your skin barrier and create inflammation, which can lead to redness, dryness, or blemishes.
Remember to listen to your skin, understand it, and skip exfoliating if it feels irritated, even if it's a day you had planned to exfoliate. I recommend exfoliating your skin a maximum of twice a week. The same applies to retinol.
Retinol is one of the most effective active ingredients. However, it's important to use it wisely. Start slowly but surely. Apply it two to three times a week to begin with. You can gradually increase the frequency of application over time as your skin adjusts to this powerful active ingredient.
Taking a break for 1 to 2 days a week allows the skin to rest and regenerate.

4. RINSE SKIN WITH COLD WATER
Cold water helps tighten pores. If you apply cold water before cleansing, impurities will be trapped in the pores and cause blemishes. It's recommended to rinse your face with lukewarm water to allow the cleanser to penetrate the pores for a deeper clean. The final rinse can be done with cold water to further tighten pores.
5. ONLY DO A COLLAGEN TREATMENT
Collagen is an important structural protein for maintaining plump, youthful, and hydrated skin. To maintain consistent collagen levels in your skin and body, daily supplementation is necessary. Supplement treatments only provide temporary benefits because collagen is broken down daily by oxidative stress, UV rays, and other factors.
Its effects are also cumulative; therefore, the more regularly you take it, the more long-term benefits you will reap. Collagen supplementation should be tailored to your age and needs. Taking less than you need will not have a significant impact on your skin's quality.
OUR RECOMMENDATIONS:
Between 25 and 35 years old: 3g
Between 35 and 45 years old: 6g
After age 45: 10g

6. NOT USING SUNSCREEN: IT'S THROWING MONEY OUT THE WINDOW
Applying sunscreen daily is the best way to prevent premature skin aging, including wrinkles, age spots, and loss of elasticity. Therefore, investing in anti-aging products is pointless if you don't protect your skin. UVA rays, which destroy collagen, can penetrate through clouds, windows, and other openings, so you're never truly safe from the sun, even if you spend little time outdoors. Cumulative sun exposure can lead to long-term damage.
7. THINKING THAT VITAMIN C IS PHOTOSENSITIVE
Contrary to popular belief, vitamin C does not make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Quite the opposite! Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from oxidative stress and free radicals. It therefore protects against skin aging. This doesn't mean you shouldn't apply SPF every day, as you read earlier. Vitamin C + SPF is an excellent combination to apply every morning.
8. APPLY OIL TO DRY SKIN
Whether on the face or body, always apply oil to damp skin, as water (or toner) facilitates the oil's absorption. Combining oil and water promotes better penetration of the active ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin. This also results in a lighter feel, without any oily residue. Oil acts as a barrier that locks in moisture, preventing dehydration. Similarly, oils should be applied at the very end of your beauty routine to respect their high molecular weight.
9. FAILING TO ADAPT YOUR ROUTINE ACCORDING TO THE CLIMATE
Humidity levels affect your skin's hydration. Your skin's needs will differ depending on whether you live in a humid or dry climate. In a humid environment, your skin will naturally be more hydrated but also oilier and more prone to blemishes. In a dry climate, you'll need to use more moisturizing ingredients if you have dry skin.

10. APPLYING YOUR SKINCARE IN THE WRONG ORDER
Most people don't know that the order in which skincare products are applied follows a precise scientific rule: from the lightest to the heaviest molecular weight. If you apply a thick cream before a serum, the serum will never be able to penetrate the barrier created by the cream. The result: you waste your most expensive products.
The scientifically proven order:
Cleanser (rinses off)
Tonic/Essence (very fine molecules, prepares the skin)
Serum/Ampoule (concentrated active ingredients, small molecules)
Eye contour (light texture, delicate area)
Moisturizing cream (medium molecules, seals in moisture)
Facial oil (large molecules, creates a protective barrier)
SPF (always last in the morning)
Why this is crucial: Studies show that an incorrect application order reduces the effectiveness of your assets by 40 to 60%. You're literally throwing money away.
Ten steps to adopt for perfect skin
1. Apply sunscreen every day
This is rule number 1! Your routine will be ineffective if you don't apply sunscreen because UV rays are the primary cause of skin aging:
• Holi (Sun) Firming and Plumping Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 - AGENT NATEUR
• Mineral Drops Tinted Sunscreen SPF50 - ODACITY
2. PERFORM A DOUBLE CLEAN IN THE EVENING
To remove makeup and impurities that accumulate during the day and allow the skin to renew itself properly overnight:
• Algae and Enzyme Cleansing Oil - MARA
• Treate - Gentle Cleansing Emulsion - IN FIORE
3. CONSUME SUPERFOOD
To address skin problems, dietary supplements are surprisingly effective. They can reduce blemishes, stress, redness, wrinkles, and dullness.
• The Skin Elixir - WELLECO
• Resveratrol - KIKI HEALTH
• Calm (beauty) - NATEUR AGENT
4. Apply a vitamin C serum in the morning
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects the skin, fights against premature aging and hyperpigmentation:
• Brightening Serum - Vitamin C & E + Hyaluronic Acid - ODACITÉ
• Holi (C) - NATURAL AGENT
5. Apply retinol in the evening
Retinol is a true Swiss Army knife: it stimulates collagen production, improves radiance, and reduces wrinkles and imperfections.
• Retinol Night Face Oil - MARA
• Renewing Serum - Retinol + Hyaluronic Acid - ODACITÉ
6. Massage your face
Massage lifts, plumps, increases blood flow, redefines contours, and relaxes muscles. Just 5 minutes a day is enough for real, immediate, and long-term results.
• It's Lit - Smart (Gua Sha) Facial Massager - SOLARIS
• Level Up - SOLARIS
7. USE A TONIC RICH IN HYALURONIC ACID
To deeply hydrate your skin. Don't hesitate to apply several layers if your skin absorbs easily:
• Holi (Water) - SWIMMING AGENT
• Ambrosia - GENTLERIST
• Vitale Toning Floral Essence - IN FIORE
8. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
This is the key to properly eliminating toxins. You can add collagen for a slightly fruity flavor.
• Natural Marine Collagen Blueberry - VIDA GLOW
9. USE ORGANIC MAKEUP
Avoid overloading your skin with heavy makeup that will prevent it from breathing. Organic makeup is like skincare. It will enhance your complexion while adding beautiful color.
• Organic and Natural Makeup
10. VARY YOUR ASSETS WITHOUT OVERLAPPING THEM
Use ingredients sparingly and wisely so as not to disrupt the hydrolipidic barrier.
