THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE EXPIRATION OF YOUR BEAUTY PRODUCTS
Have you got products that have been sitting in a drawer for too long? Are you unsure if they're still safe to use? Bazar Bio has the answers for you:
HOW DO I KNOW IF A PRODUCT IS NO LONGER USABLE?
Thanks to a time indicator
You'll usually find a small symbol on your beauty product packaging (generally an hourglass or an open jar with a time indication, e.g., 6M = 6 months) to indicate the expiration date after opening. It's therefore important to note the date you open your product and the date after which you should no longer use it.
AVERAGE LIFESPAN OF CARE
• Mascara: 3 months
• Powder: 3 years
• Lips: 2 years
• Cream: 12 months
• Skincare: 12 months
GR CE A UN INDICATOR VIRTUAL OU SENSITIVE
If your product has changed smell, color, or texture, it's a sign that the preservatives are no longer working effectively. It's time to throw them away.
HOW TO PRESERVE YOUR PRODUCTS FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE?
Your storage method and how you use the product will greatly determine its durability.
It is best to store your products in a cool, dry place away from light. Leaving them on display in your bathroom, which is the warmest and most humid place in our homes, will significantly reduce their lifespan.
Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before using any of your products that come in a jar. This will prevent contamination of the jar and therefore the product itself.
Close the caps securely.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF USING AN EXPIRED PRODUCT?
Initially, expired cosmetics will simply have less effectiveness, a different texture or color.
If you exceed the usage period too far, your expired skincare products can compromise your skin barrier, which is more annoying because a strong skin barrier is key to beautiful skin.
The most serious case is the proliferation of bacteria: Be careful, you risk an infection: acne, conjunctivitis, redness, rash… water-based or biphasic products become contaminated more quickly, while oil-based products oxidize.
