May Lindstrom

May Lindstrom is passionate about pure and powerful ingredients, spices, clays, honey…. She believes in simplicity. As a little girl, May already spent entire days crushing wild plants and flowers to create “potions” with which she would cover herself.

What is your skin type?

My skin was a battleground from birth, throughout my adolescence, and into adulthood. Keeping my complexion even and healthy was a full-time preoccupation! I have the type of skin prone to breakouts that peel when exposed to certain synthetic ingredients, especially preservatives. I had my share of hormonal acne (in my early twenties and during my pregnancy) and constantly dermatitis and eczema.

For the past 30 years, my skin has never looked better. I've learned what nourishes my body from the inside out, what nourishes my skin from the outside, and I've made lifestyle choices that are essential for my well-being. It takes time, but it's something I (and every woman and man) truly deserve.

What is your daily and weekly beauty routine?

In the morning, my routine is very simple. I splash my face with cool water and massage it in most of the time. Then I apply The Youth Dew or The Blue Cocoon and The Jasmine Garden . If my skin feels dehydrated and sensitive, I'll apply The Honey Mud in the shower. This enzymatic and antioxidant treatment will protect my skin from the evaporation of its precious oils. Before getting out of the shower, I massage The Good Stuff all over my body to hydrate and protect it from head to toe. It's the sexiest treatment ever; it leaves my skin feeling satiny and fragrant.

In the evening, I cleanse my skin with The Honey Mud (which is a dual-purpose product), to which I add The Clean Dirt every two or three days for effective exfoliation, to even out my complexion, and to brighten it. Once or twice a week, I take the time to detoxify my skin with my anti-inflammatory superhero: The Problem Solver. Then, I massage my face with The Youth Dew , followed by The Blue Cocoon , and I generously spritz myself with The Jasmine Garden .

What do you do if you get a pimple?

The Problem Solver. Always. It works wonders. One or two masks a week prevent breakouts. I also mix it with The Youth Dew or The Blue Cocoon to create a spot treatment— The Youth Dew for active, inflammatory acne and The Blue Cocoon for painful, inflamed cystic acne.

What do you use for your body?

For my body, I love to dry brush before washing. It's fantastic for stimulating circulation and balancing sebum production. Brush from the inside of your fingers down to your neck.
After showering, while my skin is still damp, I generously massage The Good Stuff into my face . I do this every time I wash; try it and you'll notice an immediate and significant difference in the health and radiance of your skin.

What are your favorite May Lindstrom products?

The Blue Cocoon is my all-time favorite skincare product, anywhere in the world! The Blue Cocoon is a water- and wax-free balm that melts into the skin to reveal the most beautiful facial oil you'll ever try. I use it both as a daily moisturizer and as a special treatment for my skin when it's sensitive, inflamed, damaged, acne-prone, or irritated. It can be used locally or all over the face, neck, and décolleté. It's a powerful anti-inflammatory that soothes the skin in the most beautiful way, providing optimal hydration and regeneration, eliminating any redness or irritation. It works wonders for all skin types and is especially effective for those suffering from eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and rosacea. It's meditation for the skin! I also apply it around my eyes and on my lips.

Do you have a secret beauty tip?

The one I try to follow and that I recommend to all my clients: Move, breathe, be in love. Know that you are beautiful. Beauty is a reflection of your inner self—be yourself. Take time to rest your body and mind, to play, to learn, to be joyful, to fully share with others. Beauty reflects happiness and awareness.

Do you have a DIY recipe?

Before a bath, mix a slimming spoonful of raw honey, sprinkle with cinnamon, and add half a teaspoon of chlorella powder. Massage onto freshly cleansed skin and immerse yourself in your bathwater to allow the enzymes to penetrate. Your skin will be glowing!

Do you have a special beauty recipe (like a detox recipe)?

Traditional but very effective – the first thing to do in the morning is to drink a glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon and a touch of raw honey. If I'm lacking energy or my immune system is sluggish, I'll add cayenne pepper. It's powerful and it works! Turmeric is another key ingredient that's vital for health and beauty.

What do you always carry in your bag?

The Blue Cocoon . I always have one in my bag, another in my bathroom, one on my nightstand, and one on my desk at the studio. I seriously can't live without it! It looks beautiful under makeup or on top to add radiance, as an eye and lip treatment, and I even use it in my hair to define my curls and reduce frizz. It's the only product that keeps my skin feeling so healthy and soothed.
