KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE WELL IN ORDER TO BUILD A SUITABLE BEAUTY ROUTINE

Understanding your skin type is extremely helpful for building your beauty routine and knowing which ingredients are right for you and which to avoid. Some active ingredients can do more harm than good if they don't meet your needs. Choosing the right product allows you to treat and prevent most skin problems, which is why we're going to help you choose from the many skincare products available.

DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "SKIN TYPE" AND "SKIN PROBLEM"?

Your skin type is determined by your genes. You will more or less retain the same skin type throughout your life. There are three main skin types: dry, normal, and oily. The spectrum of skin types varies from dry to oily depending on sebum production.

Your skin type can't change, but each skin type has different needs. You can use products that are either balancing if your skin is oily, or nourishing if your skin is dry. Knowing your skin type allows you to create a suitable and effective skincare routine.

TAKE THE TEST!
Wash your face (with a gentle cleanser), pat it dry, and don't apply any other products. Wait 30 minutes, then assess how your skin looks and feels. If your face is shiny all over, you probably have oily skin. If it's only shiny in the T-zone, you have combination skin. If your skin feels tight and dull, you have dry skin.

THE DIFFERENT SKIN TYPES

DRY SKIN

Dry skin is rather thin and secretes very little sebum. The pores are small or even invisible, and the skin is dull. It can flake and be uncomfortable.

NORMAL SKIN

Normal skin is the ideal skin we would all like to have. It is perfectly balanced, radiant, and healthy.

OILY SKIN

Oily skin produces excess sebum. The sebaceous glands are overactive, resulting in shiny skin and enlarged pores. Oily skin is prone to blemishes because excess sebum is one of the contributing factors.

COMBINATION SKIN

Combination skin is certainly the most common skin type. It is characterized by an oily T-zone and the rest being rather normal or dry.

DIFFERENT SKIN CONDITIONS

There are five skin conditions. These conditions are influenced by internal factors such as premature aging, hormones, stress levels, and the microbiome, as well as external factors like cold, heating, UV rays, and pollution. The good news is that these issues can be addressed, unlike skin type, which is genetic. All skin types can experience these conditions. Oily skin can become dehydrated, and dry skin can become sensitive. We only have one skin type. However, it is possible to experience multiple skin conditions simultaneously.

DEHYDRATION

Dehydrated skin lacks water (dry skin lacks oil). It cannot retain moisture properly. Dehydration lines may appear.

ACNE

Imperfections appear when the pore is clogged by excess sebum, dead skin, and bacteria.

SENSITIVITY

Sensitive skin can be uncomfortable and react very quickly to changes in temperature or the cosmetic products you apply. It can become red and inflamed.

PIGMENTATION SPOTS

This is the slowest problem to solve. Sun exposure or scarring can cause these spots.

PREMATURE AGING

Time passes inexorably and the skin thins, collagen production decreases, the skin is less elastic… But it is possible to slow down or even reverse the signs of time thanks to targeted treatments.
