FACIAL OILS: A PRECIOUS TREATMENT FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

Think oils are only for dry skin? Think again! The misconception that oils clog pores, make skin oily, and cause acne is outdated. We now know that oils are the best allies for restoring the skin barrier and sealing in moisture. Plant-based oils offer remarkable benefits for all skin types, including combination and oily skin, by regulating sebum production. Applied as the last step in your evening routine, they help reveal a smooth and radiant complexion in the morning. Discover which oils are right for your skin type and how to incorporate them into your beauty routine.

THE UNIVERSAL BENEFITS OF FACIAL OILS

Plant oils are true beauty allies, whatever your skin type. Their secret? A unique composition of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants that work deep down.

SKIN BARRIER PROTECTION

Your skin has a natural barrier that protects it from external aggressors. Plant oils strengthen this barrier by providing the lipids necessary for its proper function. The result: stronger, better-protected skin.

ANTIOXIDANT ACTION

Oils are rich in natural antioxidants that fight free radicals, which are responsible for skin aging. Vitamin E, particularly abundant in these oils, is your best anti-aging ally.

HYDRATION REGULATION

Contrary to popular belief, oils do not make skin greasy. They contribute to the skin's moisture balance by retaining water in the tissues, while regulating sebum production.

FOR NORMAL TO OILY SKIN

Applying oil to already oily skin might seem counterintuitive. Yet, it's exactly what your skin needs because oils signal to your skin that it's sufficiently hydrated and doesn't need to overproduce sebum. Drying out combination to oily skin damages the lipid barrier and creates a vicious cycle: the more dehydrated the skin is, the more sebum it will produce to compensate. Applying oils with a light texture (small molecular size) that don't clog pores allows you to gradually restore balance. Some oils also have natural purifying properties and help reduce inflammation.

• Jojoba oil
Its composition, similar to sebum, makes it an ideal ally for regulating sebum production. It is light and non-greasy.

• Apricot kernel oil
Light and balancing, it absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy film

• Grape seed oil
Its astringent action helps tighten pores. It contains linoleic acid, known for its ability to regulate sebum production. It also offers antioxidant properties to combat free radicals.

• Black seed oil
Its purifying properties make it an ally for acne-prone skin. It is sebum-regulating.

PRACTICAL GUIDE
Applying oils for normal to oily skin
The perfect timing: Opt for application in the evening, when skin is most receptive to skincare products because it's during the night that skin renews and regenerates itself. If your skin is normal to combination, application in the morning is possible, adjusting the amount accordingly.

The ideal application technique
1. Apply to skin that has been lightly moistened with toner. The toner will allow the oil to penetrate and prevent it from leaving a greasy residue.
2. Pour 2-3 drops of oil into the palm of your hand
3. Warm the oil between your hands
4. Gently press onto the face, do not pull on the skin
5. Make slight upward movements

Mistakes to avoid
• Do not overload the skin: 2-3 drops are sufficient
• Avoid applying to dry skin
• Oil is the final step in a routine. It's important to apply it after moisturizer because it helps seal in moisture and allows the previous skincare products to be more effective. If oils are applied too early in a routine, they can even prevent subsequent products from being absorbed.

OPTIMIZATION
Seasonal adaptation
• Summer: Opt for very light oils, reduce the quantities
• Winter: You can slightly increase the amount if needed, depending on the humidity of the region where you live. The colder and drier it is, the more your skin needs to be protected and nourished.
